OUR STORY

On November 11, 2023, at 18:30, School of Atmospheric Sciences and NJU Nanjing-Helsinki Institute co-organized a welcome party to help new students quickly fit in the institute, feel the warmth and care of the institute, show both the characteristics of them and the institute, and enrich their extracurricular life. The welcome party was held and successfully concluded in Zhang Xinyu Theater.

Mr. Lin Shiyao, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Atmospheric Sciences, and Ms. Xu Xin, Vice Dean of NJU Nanjing-Helsinki Institute attended the party. Guests of the party included Teacher Liu Keqin, Giancarlo Ciarelli, Matt Sievers, Zinaida Belonoshko; Wang Zhe, Administrative Secretary of the Office; Zhang Jingwen, Academic Affairs Secretary; and Dai Beiye, Student Counselor; Li Jia, Director of the Office of School of Atmospheric Sciences; Zheng Kailin, Secretary of the Party Committee; Pan Shu, Secretary of Alumni Committee; Ren Jiefei, Secretary of Administration; Chen Chu, Graduate Student Counselor.

Greetings

At the beginning of the party, Mr. Lin Shiyao firstly gave a speech. Mr. Lin warmly welcomed the new students from School of Atmospheric Sciences and NJU Nanjing-Helsinki Institute, and congratulated the establishment of the institute. He believed that students will start a new chapter in their life, and are to devote themselves to their studies with more enthusiasm and more firm beliefs. He hoped that they will not forget their original goals, not afraid of difficulties, make efforts with youth power, and be ideal and responsible students graduating from the school and institute. Finally, Mr. Lin wished the party a complete success and hoped that everyone could have fun.

Oh Whale Vocal Orchestra sang beautiful songs with great affection. What a feast for the ears!

Chinese Traditional Art: High Mountains and Flowing Water

It was a wonderful integration of music, calligraphy and dance, in which the audience were all immersed. They not only appreciated the charm of traditional art, but also felt the power of innovation. This performance was like a clear stream, refreshing the audience’s minds, and let them get closer with traditional Chinese culture.

Song: Torna a Surriento

The romantic song was like a warm sea breeze. It was full of emotion and took the audience to roam around the south coast of Italy.

Song: That Man from Shijiazhuang

The unfolding story behind the song enabled the audience to appreciate its deep connotation and realize the meaning of life.

02 Now It’s Time to Advance

THE SECOND

Comedy: I Want to Learn Martial Arts

The comedy I Want to Learn Martial Arts, designed by Yongyule Comedy Club, was full of witty remarks. It made the audience burst into laughter and brought the unique charm of traditional comedy to them!

Instrumental Ensemble: La La Land

Like a splendid symphony, the virtuoso skills of the passionate performers outlined a city of music full of dreams and charm.

Songs: Unsullied & A Moment of Romance

The two songs were performed together with the sound and emotion complementing each other. They stirred up the deepest emotions of the audience, and made them feel like strolling in the paradise where love and dreams meet.

Dance: There Is Such A Place

The dancers were enthusiastic and unrestrained, and they unveiled the mysterious and vast Western region, which made the audience feel the deep cultural richness and aroused their desire for travelling to the Western land.

THE THIRD

Violin Solo: Purple Passion

The violin solo, Purple Passion, brought the audience to feel the collision of classic and modern as well as the power of life.

Song: Maiden

The beautiful voice was like a gentle breeze, which not only pictured a girl’s mind in a subtle way, but also ignited the audience desire for the future.

Magic: Unsettled 

The amazing magic show Unsettled brought the cheering audience to the scene of miracle and left the stage to rapturous applause.

Song: The Untold Secret

The song The Untold Secret was soft and gentle. Like a love letter, it deeply touched the audience’s heartstrings.

THE END

Our Story

At the end of each section, there was an exciting lucky draw with lots of prizes, which ignited the enthusiasm of the audience. And after the lucky draw, winners would come up to the stage to took photos with all the teachers.

The party was ended up with a medley. The cheerful melody of different songs drew the brilliant event to a wonderful end.

Thus, the welcome party was successfully concluded, and it had brought teachers and students closer. It was highly appreciated that teachers and students could join in, that many actors and actresses could carry out brilliant performance, that behind-the-scenes workers could spare no effort in supporting the party, and that Huawei could generously sponsor the event.

We sincerely wish that new students could embark on a wonderful new journey at Nanjing University.
