About the Nanjing-Helsinki Institute in Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences, Nanjing University (NJU Nanjing-Helsinki Institute)
The Nanjing-Helsinki Institute in Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences, Nanjing University (NJU Nanjing-Helsinki Institute) was established in April 2022 through a partnership between Nanjing University and the University of Helsinki. As the first Sino-foreign cooperative institute in China to implement education in Atmospheric Sciences, it has the right to confer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees of Nanjing University and the University of Helsinki.
The institute’s primary objectives include developing a modern talent training system in the field of atmospheric and earth system sciences and fostering outstanding individuals with a global perspective. It also aims to cultivate talent with the potential to lead in addressing pressing global issues like climate change and sustainable development through scientific research, while contributing to local and national efforts in environmental governance, climate change mitigation, and global sustainable development.
The institute has officially started the enrolment of the first batch of undergraduate and graduate students in 2023, and will carry out its teaching mainly on NJU Suzhou Campus in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.
1. Position
One vacancy of full-time English language teaching.
Positions are located on the Suzhou Campus and personnel relations are based on the Suzhou Campus. The workplace of the position is in Nanjing and Suzhou.
2. Requirements
1) Applicants should observe Chinese laws and regulations, and demonstrate a passion for teaching and research.
2) Applicants should maintain a high standard of academic and work ethics without any punishment record for violating teaching and academic ethics. Proofs of police clearance are required.
3) Applicants must be native speakers of English with a master’s degree or above in literature, linguistics, or other specialties related to humanities or social sciences. 4) Applicants should have a good command of pedagogic skills and a flair for oral communication, and are capable of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses with competence.
5) Applicants should have at least two years of teaching experience in college or language schools either in China or abroad with proven excellent pedagogical skills. Preference will be given to those who have experience of teaching English as a second language (SEL).
6) In general, applicants should be under 55 years of age at the time of application (born after January 1st, 1968). However, the age limit will be subject to adjustment for exceptionally excellent applicants.

4. Salary and Benefits
1) The annual salary for full-time language teachers (varies according to previous teaching experience).
2) Benefit package includes monthly rental subsidy and international travel allowance, ranging from 35, 000-50, 000 yuan/year in total.
3) Social insurance will be provided in accordance with laws and regulations in China (including endowment insurance, medical insurance, unemployment insurance, maternity insurance and employment injury insurance). The university will also pay for the housing fund upon agreement with the applicant.
